Whew! I just finished my kids' Easter clothes, and with a day to spare!
The Girl really wanted a maxi dress and I wanted something with sleeves, so this is what we came up with:
The fabric is a bright grass green with a floral burnout pattern (so the flowers and swirls are sheer). I found it at WalMart for $2/yard and couldn't pass it up. Although it's not a traditional Easter pastel, I think it screams spring and summer.
I used Simplicity Pattern #3510 for the raglan bodice and added a long gathered skirt. Because the fabric is partly sheer, I lined it with plain white cotton.
THIS tutorial, but made the tie a lot longer. And I found that if you follow the instructions for tying the tie, but do it backwards, it works better...then the skinny part of the tie ends up in the back where it's supposed to be instead of in the front where you have to twist it funny to get it to the back.
I had a great dress planned for myself, but I just ran out of time to get it done. So it will have to be a non-Easter dress. But I'm super excited to share it when it's done.
