Apple Cider Syrup

Are you ready for a heavenly recipe that just screams Fall? Look no further! I made Apple Cider Syrup last night for dinner and it was so delicious. My five year old said he wanted to eat it without the french toast. I kind of agree with him. It really was that good! It took our run-of-the-mill French toast to new heights and had us dreaming of strolling through apple orchards and jumping in piles of colorful, crunchy leaves.

Apple Cider Syrup

8 teaspoons cornstarch
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
2 cups apple cider
2 tablespoons lemon juice
4 tablespoons butter

Mix cornstarch, sugar and cinnamon together in a saucepan. While whisking, gradually add the cider and lemon juice. Cook over medium heat and stir until thick. Remove from heat and stir in butter. Serve warm over pancakes, waffles or French toast. Store leftovers in the fridge... if you have leftovers. This would also make a mighty fine ice cream topping or drizzle for a poke cake.

  1. Mmmm, how long will this keep in the fridge, this will be good with pancakes. I currently make a syrup using oranges but this would be nice for a change, thanks.

    1. Ours never lasts long enough for me to know... but I'd guess a week to 10 days?
