How I Found Time To Scrapbook Again

Thank you to Stampin' Up! for sending these pretty supplies to me so that I could share this post with you.

I used to be obsessed with scrapbooking. My oldest child has amazing scrapbooks documenting every moment of her life. My youngest child? I don't even think I have any printed pictures of her. As life has gotten busier, I just dropped scrapbooking completely. My poor younger children have nothing.

But last year, my husband and I took an amazing vacation to Boston. It was such a memorable trip that I really wanted to document it and be able to look at our pictures together. So I decided to give the Project Life method of scrapbooking a try. Guys, game changer!

My travel scrapbook came together so quickly because I didn't have to spend a bunch of  time hunting for coordinating paper and embellishments or cutting and gluing and cropping. You just slide your photos into the sleeve pockets, then slide the pre-made cards into whatever spots are left!

I also love that my photos aren't glued down to anything, so if I ever want to pull them out it's easy peasy.

But do you want to know the real reason I loved making a scrapbook with Project Life? I did almost all of it in the car. IN THE CAR! While I'm waiting in neverending pick-up lines, I grab a couple of page protectors and start flipping through the cards and instead of sitting there wondering why my children walk so slowly when they see me waiting for them, I'm busting out a scrapbook! It works to scrapbook this way in the car because I didn't need scissors or a paper cutter or glue or a bunch of messy stuff. Just the cards, my photos and the pocket pages.

It's pretty much the best thing ever.

It did take some getting used to. It was kind of like a puzzle trying to figure out how to put certain pictures together and which pocket pages would work for which pictures, but once I got the hang of it, this scrapbook came together in record speed.

I thought it would be fun to customize the cover of my scrapbook, so I cut some gold craft vinyl using my Silhouette machine and adhered it to the cover.

It adds just the right amount of bling.

Next up, it's time to work on some baby books. Maybe my youngest kids will get scrapbooks after all!

So have you tried the Project Life way of scrapbooking? What did you think?

If you're interested in giving it a try, you can find some cute kits HERE.

  1. I used to use this method of project life for a while but then found it too time consuming and there was still 'stuff' laying around, cards to keep organized, pictures to print and pick up etc... so,I switched to the app. Talk about a game changer!! It's ALL on my phone, which I have with me all the time. Even ordering the final pages is so so easy right from the app. When the prints arrive (I do 12x12 layouts), I just slip them into the 12x12 page protector and just like that....scrapbook done! It takes about 2 minutes to slip in 30+ pages. No puzzles to figure out where to put what. The best part is that I usually finish making all the pages on the plane/car ride home and order them before we even get home. Some people prefer the physical cards and such but for me it is so much easier and 100% mess free to use the app. Try it!! (and use your leftover cards for note cards, invitations etc..)

    1. Oh, my goodness. How did I not know about this?! It sounds amazing and I am going to go check it out right this minute! Thanks Carrie!
