I’m excited to be sharing a free knitting pattern with you today. I was perusing the yarn aisle at Walmart the other day and came across Red Heart Strata yarn and instantly fell in love. It’s almost like t-shirt yarn, but it’s a tube instead of flat strips of knit fabric if that makes any sense. It’s soft and stretchy and squishy and completely delicious yarn! I immediately came home and started working on a boho-inspired scarf.
Cast on 22 stitches using the long tail cast-on method.
Repeat until the scarf is the desired length. I repeated the six row set 17 times and used the entire skein of yarn.I did want to note that after you knit row six, gently pull on the stitches until the long stitches are even and smooth. It’s a little weird at first, but you’ll get the hang of it quickly.

I am a master crocheter. This is the very first thing I was ever inspired to knit. Gorgeous scarf! I just started it and it is very easy to do. Also, I love your video. Whenever I wat h tutorial videos I look for the shortest ones. I don't need all that talking either so I love that yours is straight and to the point and no annoying chatter! Thank you!

I'm with you on the short videos… that's why I made mine that way, because all the talking bugs me too! And thank you for the kind comment. I'm glad you're taking on a knitting project! I started out as a crocheter, but more and more I find myself wanting to knit because the finished "fabric" is so stretchy and squishy.

Does the longer version look good as well?

Yes, but if you make it longer, I would make it a traditional scarf shape, not an infinity scarf. Personal preference, but I think it would work better.

OMG! it was meant to be and i can’t wait! But i have one question…I have not got access to a size eleven knitting needle but i do have a size 5. Is it in any way possible that i could shrink the pattern to be a size that would work on those needles?
Thank you in advance for your reply and i can’t wait to start on this amazing project!

Sorry, Belle… I wouldn’t recommend changing the pattern in any way unless you are a very experienced knitter. Who knows what size they would turn out!
