I’m always up for a party, but sometimes the prep work can seem intimidating. That’s why I love simple party foods. They leave me more time to panic clean the house before anyone comes over. Ha!
These vege and dip cups make the perfect appetizer. They are really pretty, but still quick to put together. They taste great and are healthy too! Labor Day is right around the corner and this would be the perfect addition to any backyard barbecue, family picnic or girls night in.
The star ingredient? Chobani’s new Meze Dips! They are a creamy dip made with Greek yogurt and loaded with real veges, herbs and spices. I picked them up in the deli section of my local WalMart.
Then I simply chopped up some vegetables and arranged them in clear plastic cups so guests can grab a cup and go. I used red, green and yellow bell peppers, carrots and cherry tomatoes, but celery would be a good addition too. My plan was to keep the dip separate so guests could choose the flavor they want, scoop some into the bottom of their cup, then have a portable way to walk around while munching.
Aren’t the vegetables pretty? They are almost too pretty to eat… well, almost.
Chobani Meze Dips come in four great flavors: Chili Lime, Smoked Onion and Parmesan, Three Pepper Salsa and Roasted Red Pepper. I liked all of the flavors, but I think the Smoked Onion and Parmesan was my personal favorite. I’m so excited to have a new vegetable dip! My go-to used to be hummus, but this new Meze Dip has 80% less fat and 65% fewer calories than the leading hummus, so I am not going to complain about that! It’s like grown-up Ranch dressing that’s actually good for you! Ha! I think I will be enjoying these dips often since I’m trying to be more health-conscious lately and get my daily serving of vegetables. You know how the saying goes: just a spoonful of dip makes the vegetables go down. Or something like that.
I kept the party decor simple with red buffalo check place mats. Red check just screams summer to me, so I thought it would be perfect for Labor Day and our last chance to celebrate summer. It’s patriotic without being Fourth of July-ish. Really, the vegetable cups were so colorful and festive that it didn’t take much else for it to feel like a party.

We’ll be hanging out with our extended family on Labor Day weekend. We don’t have to chance for all of us to be together very often any more, so it’s really going to be a great time. We’ll hit up the county fair, play lots of backyard volleyball, let the cousins run around in packs and spend lots of time crowded around the kitchen table talking and laughing together. I can’t think of a better way to spend a weekend!
