Giving handmade gifts at Christmas time is my favorite and these mason jars filled with hot cocoa mix and topped with holiday themed hats are so festive and fun!
Then it’s time to whip up the homemade hot cocoa mix. (Or if you’re short on time, just dump store-bought cocoa mix into each jar! Shhh… no one will ever know it isn’t homemade)
Here’s my recipe for homemade hot cocoa mix:
- 2 cups unsweetened cocoa powder
- 3 cups white sugar
- 1 cup coffee creamer
- 4 tablespoons cornstarch
- pinch salt
- warm milk
- Ball® mason jars
- 1.5 cups M&M’S® Brand Holiday Caramel Milk Chocolate Candies or M&M’S® Brand Holiday White Chocolate Peppermint Candies
Mix the dry ingredients together in a food processor. This helps break everything down so that it will dissolve more evenly in the milk. Divide the powder evenly between three pint sized mason jars. Top with 1/2 cup of M&M’S® candies in each jar.
To serve the hot chocolate, pour 1 cup of warm milk into a mug, then stir in 1/3 cup cocoa mix. The M&M’S® melt and make this a truly decadent holiday treat.
You can find all of the ingredients you need for this recipe at your local Walmart store. The special holiday M&M’S® are located in the seasonal candy aisle and the Ball® jars are near the dishes and kitchen goods.
And just for fun, here’s a video showing you exactly how this all comes together:
Since Christmas is a time of giving, I wanted to let you know about this awesome and easy way to help others.
