Then I strung the twine through the holes in the doilies and hung them on my fireplace mantel.
So easy! But I do love how they add a little something down there.
Did you notice that the mantel is white in one photo and wood in the other? I’m trying to decide if it’s worth painting, so I Photoshopped it. After seeing it white, I definitely want to paint it! Of course, I want to do a major fireplace overhaul eventually, but it is down the to-do list a bit, so painting it white now would be an easy way to help me wait for the big makeover.

So cute and creative! I love the simplicity yet bold statement it makes, bonus that is inexpensive. The white mantle is a great idea for a quick fix and brightens up the fireplace. I'm really enjoying watching your creativity in action as you makeover your new home.

I went to the dollar store today & picked up the doilies, though I couldn't find bakers twine. I did grab some sparkly heart garland… and then realized tape will not stick to our rough mantle! I was still able to make a nice arrangement though. Thanks for the idea!
Our mantle is dark wood against dark brick (it goes up to the ceiling) so I definitely want to paint ours white! Is your wall staying white, or are you painting that too? If it is white something like black or a color might look good too, to make it stand out from the wall more.
