DIY Beachy Pallet Wood Hello Sign

You know that whole “when life gives you lemons” thing? Well, since we ripped all the shelving out of my craft room (boo hoo hoo), I have a bunch of old wood sitting around.
I decided to turn it into a sign for above the fireplace. Or for the entryway. I haven’t decided yet. Anyway, here she is:

I love the character of the old wood. It’s got that antiqued, vintage, beachy vibe to it. Plus it’s so nice to  be greeted so cheerfully every time I walk by. Ha!

Do you want to make your own pallet wood sign? Here’s how!

strips of wood, cut to the same length plus a few more for the back
screws and an electric screwdriver
printout of an image or word/phrasebvvb b

1. Lay the wood pieces all tightly together, then lay some extra lengths of wood across the back. Screw the wood together, trying to get at least one screw into each board…two is better. I was nervous about this step. I decided to just go for it, and it worked. I just kept screwing things together until I could lift it up without anything falling off. Very professional and precise, I know. But hey, it’s not like it needs to be sturdy… it’s a decoration!

2. Mix 1/2 craft paint and 1/2 water and lightly paint over everything.

3. Print out the word or picture or whatever and use the chalk method to transfer the image to the wood. Details about image transferring HERE.

4. Paint in between the chalk lines and then you are all done!

Much happier than a pile of wood.
