Happy New Year! I’ve been working on getting the new house put together and it is going slowly (very slowly) but surely. I got the bookcases set up and styled and I’m loving them.
I want the room to be cheerful and fun, so I added lots of color. I bought the square frames on top of the bookcases at a thrift store five or six years ago and they have served me well! Originally they were stained natural wood. First I painted them chocolate brown, then yellow and gray, and this time I added in aqua and red. Paint, I tell ya! It’s the quickest way to update stuff you already own!
I found the marquee arrow at Kohls on sale and I had a $10 cash card, so it was a steal. It lights up at night and is so fun!
The gold oval frames are embroidered birds that came from my husband’s grandma. Love them!
You can see the bookcases before HERE. The cookie tin makeover is HERE and the little house makeover is HERE.
I am excited to spread the same feel to the rest of the room. Lots more projects to come!

So cute!! I love the color on the back of the shelves. Is it paint or some kind of paper?

Thanks, Katie! The back of the bookcases are painted. I wasn't sure when I did it, but now I am SO glad I did! It makes them so much more interesting.
